AC Milan are close to securing Mathieu Flamini for next season as Arsenal's attempts to keep the much-improved midfielder look increasingly likely to fail.
Flamini will be a free agent when his contract runs out this summer, and Arsene Wenger says he is confident that the player, a linchpin in Arsenal's young side this season, will stay.
But Arsenal's final offer will not exceed £50,000 a week and Milan are understood to be able to offer more and a substantial signing-on fee.
Arsenal managing director Keith Edelman, is scheduled to meet Flamini.
