JOHN TERRY has told Arsenal: You’ve got no backbone. The Gunners’ season has collapsed after being dumped out of the Champions League by Liverpool in midweek and falling behind in the title race.
Chelsea captain Terry puts it down to a lack of English players in the spine of their team. The England defender said: “You need an English backbone — that force, that togetherness, that pulling together. "That’s what the English players have. It’s why Arsenal might come up short in the run-in.”
If Arsenal lose to Manchester United on Sunday, they will be out of the title race. That will leave a straight fight between United and Chelsea.
Terry added: “I’m driven by wanting to improve myself and after watching Manchester United win the title last season. "It hurt me that we gave it back to them, that we lost. It hurt more than anything else.”
Terry’s defensive partner Ricardo Carvalho reckons their understanding can play a major role in the title outcome. The Portuguese ace said: “He is stronger than me and likes the aerial battle but I play more with the ball. That is what makes us such a good partnership.
“It’s like being two halves of the same whole. We instinctively know what each other is doing.”
