FRANK LAMPARD has been given a “take it or leave it” contract offer by Chelsea. But the package falls short of the England midfielder’s pay demands and will only increase specualtion over his future at the club.
Lampard is keen to stay at Chelsea but feels his service over the past seven years means he should be the club’s highest-paid player. Skipper John Terry currently holds that honour on £130,000 a week with Lamps on around £100,000.
Lampard’s advisors talked with Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon over the last 24 hours. But the club’s new offer came nowhere near what they want. The Blues insist they will go no higher and have given the £11million buy from West Ham star just a few weeks to consider their proposal.
Lampard, 29, has only one season to run on his current contract and Chelsea dare not risk losing him on a Bosman free next summer. The all-action midfielder is wanted by a clutch of top European clubs — including Italian champions Inter Milan. And he has seriously been considering his future recently.
if lampard sits out, he can be the potentially first 200k pounds/week player in the world. he can potentially buy an apartment every other week in england.
as he is not getting peanuts now, he should just bide his time. he has the upper hand.
29 yr old liao....how many years can he last?!?!?
he is already 29. how much does he want? i dont see gerrard or shearer (retired) complaining about their salary.
i believe CFC can afford to lose him & den get a new MF(wif LP transfer fee being cash-in)..
with ballack in such form, they can give him up i guess.
at 29, theres not much chance to play outside of england anymore, its quite rare english players play in serie A or la liga.
greed la. chelsea should sell lah, let inter take him lor. i dont think lamb will succced in serie A. let inter pay him the heaven wages!
fat frank is useless
Frank should just take the offer on the table... $100k a week is very good already for him... At 29, his time is running out. Going to a new club in a new country will be pointless... He has to start all over again, he won't get the respect he gets at Chelsea... And he is unlike players like Ballack or Scholes... His style is more running and scoring goals... but within the next 1 to 2 yrs, he will lose that side of his game. And unlike Scholes, who was also able to run and shoot as well during his younger days, passing and creating was also his strong points... Lampard don't have that side to his game thats why i think he should stay back if they have given him a $100k offer cos even Milan or Bacre won't pay him $130k a week for his age...
Hmm..lamps can't pass and create?
I kinda remembered the goals he created from those splitting passes...
