Chelsea seal Bosingwa deal

Portuguese sports daily O JOGO reports that Chelsea have completed the signing of FC Porto right-back José Bosingwa.
Avram Grant was desperate to bring in a new right-sided defender as he was reportedly unhappy with the current options available at Stamford Bridge for this position.
O JOGO says the two clubs concurred on a €20 million deal yesterday, suggesting that the deal will be formally announced on Monday.
Although Bosingwa had been widely tipped for a move to Manchester United, Chelsea were reportedly discreet in their attempt to lure the 25-year-old into their ranks, and quickly gathered the fee Porto were requesting to begin negotiations.
The Portuguese international is expected to face stiff competition for a place in the starting XI from compatriot Paulo Ferreira and Brazilian Belletti, although one of them will reportedly leave the club in the summer.
Bosingwa joined Porto from Boavista in 2003 and has cemented his position as Jesualdo Ferreira's first choice in the right side of the defence since Ferreira departed for the London-based club.

Hmmm... Chelsea like got no scout like that, always go for Man Us targets after their scouts report back... But if its true also not a bad thing lah at least they will forget about Richards... United could aso go for Palacios cos Gary can still play next season...

Apparently he is said to be an Evra on the right-back slot according to United's scouts... lolI think Richards would be a safer bet...

chelsea will buy anything or anyone that looks like a footballer....lol....that said, richards is a flash in the pan....sure he has pace but really, beyond that what else does he have.....

Chelsea agree terms with Porto over £16.1m Bosingwa deal
CHELSEA have agreed to sign Porto star Jose Bosingwa for £16million.
The Portugal right-back is set to join Avram Grant's side this summer.
A club statement read: “Chelsea can confirm it has reached an agreement with Porto for the transfer of Jose Bosingwa.
"The player is now in England to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical."

Looks like Roman is upset and going on a wild buy again after losing the title... Cos this Bosingwa don't cost $16.1m... A foreign defender normally won't cost so much... especially a full-back player somemore... Evra only cost $6m, Vidic $7m... and this guy if its true, almost 3x that price... No epl experience some more...
Then again, maybe they feel United's scouts could be more reliable considering those they have bought to play in that problem right-back slot...

just like Man Utd of yesteryear, once they go into any form of deal seller will up their valuation of their player, C Ronaldo was rummored to be worth only 7m plus when Arsenal made enquires but once Man Utd approached them, his price rocket up to 15m.. guess thats how the game is these days.. but yes i do agreed that Mr Roman is paying stupid money for a right back if that 16.1m is true

That was expensive and it ain't worth it. Chelsea is overpaying.
Abramovich needs some bargaining power instead of readily coughing up any sum of money that clubs ask from Chelsea.

what's 16.1m when he got billions??
it is like you got 10k in your pocket and you want to buy burger costing 5 dollars. would you even consider?

Its not a matter of how much he has but how he is seen to be a carrot head... Last season onwards he somehow decided he didn't want the world to view him as a carrot head whenever they go for a player... For a while It seem to be working until now, a little panic buying i guess in wanting to beat United in something... The next time they go for another player again... That club onwer is going to think he can chop carrot head again... -

even he himself said he's unsure.. his close friend spreaded a rumour bout it too. but it would be funny, if roman financed this move if he doesn't want to keep grant..

CHELSEA beat Manchester United to the signature of £16.5million Jose Bosingwa by offering almost TWICE as much pay as the champions did.
The Portugal right-back will complete his switch from Porto today and sign a four-year deal paying £80,000 a week. United — who saw him as a successor to Gary Neville — offered £50,000.
Bosingwa, 25, said: “I have friends who are at Chelsea and it’s a club I feel I can improve at and grow as a player. “I’ve always had a dream to play in England and now I’m here I’m going to work to do my best.
“I played for a big team in Porto and now I’m going to play for a bigger team in Chelsea. My aim is to win titles.”
