sure or not? i don't think thaksin, eccentric as he is, will do something like this.
and guess what? man city is in the eufa cup next season! their wish came true. that definitely call for some level-headedness in the running of the club.
CITY GET FAIR PLAY PLACE
Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has branded Manchester City's back-door entry into the UEFA Cup as a dream - but while it could hardly be described as a nightmare for owner Thaksin Shinawatra, it might give the Blues owner a few sleepless nights.
Thaksin is currently carrying out a full review of Eriksson's first season in charge, apparently set on getting rid of the former England manager.
City fans have already made their opposition clear in a massive rally at their Eastlands home the weekend before last, pointing out Eriksson had delivered a top-10 finish, which was the pre-season aim.
"It is like the dream came true," Eriksson told the club's website, www.mcfc.co.uk.
"Our dream to play in Europe has been strong all season. At one point we were almost sure to get there, at other points we have been almost out of it but now this news is absolutely fantastic."
Although City finished only sixth in the English Fair Play table the five clubs above them had already qualified for Europe so they took the UEFA Cup berth, pipping Fulham despite having captain Richard Dunne sent off in their final match - the 8-1 hammering at Middlesbrough.
This could save Sven... Must be his lucky day...
Some newspaper reports suggested on Thursday that Thaksin would put the
vast majority of his squad on the transfer-list as a punishment, but
the former Thai Prime Minister claims that the reports are wide of the
mark.
"There is absolutely no truth to this story or any of the allegations," Thaksin informed Sky Sports.
"I appreciate the progress and performance of the whole squad, managed by Sven Goran Eriksson, this season."
nonsense?!
