Dean Ashton will get a fresh opportunity to leave his bitter-sweet FA Cup final memories behind when he is expected to move across London to join Tottenham this summer.
The 24-year-old striker, valued at about £15 million, scored for West Ham in the last final to be played in Cardiff but still finished on the losing side when Liverpool won a dramatic penalty shoot-out after Steven Gerrard's last-gasp equaliser.
Now Ashton tops the Spurs shopping list as they look for a replacement for Real Madrid-bound Dimitar Berbatov.
Meanwhile, the north London club are hoping to end their long search for a goalkeeper by signing former Real Madrid youth team product Diego Lopez from Villarreal.

Dunne keen to quit City for Spurs
Manchester City skipper Richard Dunne has set his heart on a summer move to Tottenham despite belated efforts from owner Thaksin Shinawatra to keep Sven Goran Eriksson at the club.
There was an awkward handshake between Shinawatra and Eriksson yesterday after a Thai Premier League XI beat Manchester City 3-1 in Bangkok. They will hold talks this week in which Shinawatra will try to offer his manager an olive branch after failing to lure Luiz Felipe Scolari, Jose Mourinho or Slaven Bilic.
But Eriksson will take a lot of persuading to stay, having become deeply frustrated with the lack of positive action from Shinawatra. It is a feeling shared by Dunne, who is determined to join his Republic of Ireland international captain Robbie Keane at White Hart Lane.
Dunne, who has a year left on his contract at City, has become disillusioned at the way the breakdown between Eriksson and owner Shinawatra has prevented any major decisions being made at the club.
Despite interest from Newcastle, West Ham and Sunderland, Dunne is prepared to be patient and wait for Spurs to make their move. The White Hart Lane club may not be prepared to match City's £5 million valuation of Dunne because they know the player wants to join them.
Their interest in Dunne indicates they are not confident that their injury prone captain Ledley King will be able to play a full part next season.
