Real Madrid are playing ugly but effective football nowadays. If you consider what they are playing now as beautiful, you should watch them when Makelele, Ronaldo, Zidane, Raul and Carlos when they were on their peak. It was a joy to behold. At least they were playing much better than what the used to 2-3 years ago, when they could not even string a few decent passes together.
