Ronaldo: The €80 million dollar man.
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is ready to table a bid of €80 million (£64m) for Cristiano Ronaldo. According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Real could include Brazilian striker Robinho as part of the deal to land the Manchester United winger who scored 42 goals in all competitions this season.
The proposed deal would break the world football transfer record of 76 million euros (£60 million) that Real paid Juventus to sign Frenchman Zinedine Zidane in 2001. Yesterday Real coach Bernd Schuster insisted Ronaldo was destined to play for the recently crowned Spanish champions.
"Sooner or later Cristiano Ronaldo will wear the white shirt," the German said. I hope that it is when I am still at the club. If there is any chance of signing him, Real Madrid have to try it." After Wednesday's Champions League triumph, Ronaldo refused to pledge his long-term future to United, with whom he has been since 2003.
"I don't promise anything to anyone, not even my mother," said the 23-year-old Portugal international, the Premier League's top scorer this season with 31 goals. "I want to stay of course, but nobody knows what will happen in the future. Carlos Queiroz, assistant to United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, is certain Ronaldo will be at Old Trafford next season. "Without doubt he is going to continue in Manchester," he said. "He is very happy with us, he has a contract and there is no fear he will leave.
"He must know Manchester United is the best club for him," he added. "He has developed fantastically in the last five years. At 23, he is still young. He has a lot of things still to do and we have a lot of things to give him as well. "I was at Real Madrid, so I know what I am talking about. It is not like Manchester United because there are times when you don't know who is in charge - whether it is the press or the club. You can never work independently, unlike at United, where everyone pulls in the same direction."
Queiroz has also reminded Ronaldo that newspapers in Madrid, like Marca, are not independent of the Bernabeu. "You have to remember that all the speculation about his future is coming from the right arm of Real Madrid - certain newspapers who we all know about. And when Cristiano says he will think about his future, he doesn't quite mean it in the way people think."

Like that ah... How about Ringo? lol...
Looks like Real are pushing Robinho to anyone who is interested or not interested in him... Arsenal, Chelsea now Man U... Poor Robinho, being offer around like an unwanted old piece of furniture like that...
even if it is 100M, I believe it is not an one time payoff.
from what I believe, RM is not as rich as b4.
let's see how it develops..
would rather be another 15m to make 80m pound instead of having Robinho as ManU doesn't quite need another player in the position that he plays in, 80m might not have made a huge differences to ManU but with it they can invest in a top class striker and another pretty decent right winger and still have money to spare for a right full back
they wan give robinho? fk off la rm, robinho so noob
Heh. If Ronaldo goes, I dun think he will play to his best ability like wat he did in Manchester Utd. Real Madrid always have politics going on in the backroom and managers are always changing. Not to mention pressures. Politics within the club may unsettle him. Staying at Man U would be a good choice coz the club's stable and u can enjoy ur games. unlike Real
They sucks.
