SIR ALEX FERGUSON has set the date for his retirement and will quit Manchester United in three years.
Fresh from his second Champions League win, Ferguson dismissed whispers claiming he would walk away on a high. But the United boss, 66, admitted he would go before his 70th birthday.
Fergie said: "I won't be managing here when I'm 70. No, never. I can assure you of that. "I won't be managing here any more than three years at the very, very, very most — no question.
"There is a time when you have to think about time for yourself. You know, my wife is getting older and I have to think about that. "I think she deserves a bit of my time. The older you get, the more guilty you feel about it. "What I would like to do in life is travel to places I have never been to.
"I would love to go to the States and spend about three or four months there. "I will still be involved with United in some shape or form. I hope so because I have a good relationship. "There is no chance of me ever being sacked. I think it will be my decision and David Gill is happy with that."
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have resorted to more dirty tricks in their bid to sign Cristiano Ronaldo (below) by claiming they are negotiating with the Glazer family. The Spanish giants say they have ignored Ferguson and chief executive Gill and contacted the club's American owners directly.
But that has been denied out of hand by a spokesman for the family, who said: "As Sir Alex and David Gill have already said, Ronaldo is not for sale." In a further bizarre twist, Spanish sports newspaper Marca claim Real have a club car ready and waiting for wing wizard Ronaldo.
The top-of-the-range Audi has been pictured in a club car park with a hand-written notice on the dashboard saying: ‘Deliver to Cristiano Ronaldo'.

if fergie quits i think i might stop supporting man utd lor
no fergie no man utd
he can say all he wants for now.
3 years down the road, he may just say oh i'm still healthy and strong, blah blah....
and next you just realise he's there for another 5 years.
3 years later he will change his mind and carry on.

What a "perfect" loyal fan. Call yourself a Man Utd fan. A proper football fan will stick to their clubs no matter what happens.
I am proudly to say I have been a Sunderland supporter for almost 10 years now and have gone through the worst period (15 points in the EPL) and I don't give up on them.
You be ashamed of yourself. Man Utd can do without a so call loyal fan like you.
Saf> an icon of Manu, whenever someone says about ManU, people will most prob have an image of him, then the players.

Are you really a soccer fan? You are very immature.
Man Utd don't need such a "fan".
i'll be damn sad if SAF quits. SAF brings soul to the whole team. 12 years and counting.
SAF definitely has done his part here. As with previous managers. But as a team supporter, you don't 'piao lai piao qu' like a butterfly just cause a favourite manager/player has left/gone.
Watching your favourite team, playing your favourite sport. That's something you should look forward to and enjoy. Instead of defaming other teams and spouting shit 'in good name of your supported team'.
That's not being a fan. That's a fanatic.
As far as i know.. since the day i watched soccer as a boy.. it has been ManU all the way. So happens it has been SAF all the way too. I have never seen a managerial change since i'm not tt old. Unlike the other top clubs.. *sniggers kekeke..
But it will be sad to see him leave, but he has to la. SO old le.. time to retire for family and health. He has been selfless, so we as fans should also show the same manner.
Real Madrid can fuck off. Why can't they accept the fact that they can NEVER sign cristiano ronaldo for any amount of money. To resort to dirty tricks just to sign a player just showed how desperate and pathetic they are. How i wish i could go Real and personally fuck the manager and backroom staff upside down. Especially the president. Ronaldo must understand that he plays his best football in Man Utd. Going to Real may not be the same. Nor a good move.
