After a strong season under manager Sven Goran Eriksson, City finished
in ninth place and qualified for the UEFA Cup via the Fair Play League.
The
Blues had shown signs of being capable of an even higher finish,
sitting in third place during November and doing the league double over
fierce rivals and champions – Manchester United.
And Elano, who
said that he was very happy with his own personal progress this season,
believes that City can push on from that and fight for the UEFA Cup
spots, or even the Champions League next year if things go according to
plan.
"We haven't achieved some of our objectives during the
season, but I think we can improve next year and fight for a UEFA Cup
place again, or even a Champions League spot," Elano said to the
Manchester Evening News.
"I think it's been a productive season for me. I've scored goals and got to know the English football style.
"It was a good first season and I'm sure I will improve here."
with enough funds coming in i am sure they can improve further. just give the manager more time.
