The representatives of Hidetoshi Nakata admit to being surprised by reports linking the former Japan midfielder with a return to football.
Nakata, who has had previous spells with Roma and Bolton, has been rumoured to be a target of Manchester City as owner Thaksin Shinawatra looks to reinforce his Eastlands squad.
Thaksin ended months of speculation as he disposed of former manager Sven Goran Eriksson on Monday and he is already lining up a replacement after being granted permission to speak to Blackburn boss Mark Hughes.
And speculation also suggests that Thaksin is planning to coax 31-year-old Nakata, who quit football at the end of the 2006 World Cup, out of retirement.
But Nakata's management company - Sunny Side Up - claim to be shocked by the news saying: "We're frankly a little surprised.
"At this time we're not aware he has any such plans."
