Fabio Capello has revealed his experimentations with the England captain’s armband are over. The England boss has tried out John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard, David Beckham and Gareth Barry in the skipper’s role during his four games in charge.
England’s next fixture, against Czech Republic, will be their last friendly before they begin their World Cup 2010 qualifying campaign.
Capello revealed he has narrowed his choice down to two players, and he said the next time he selects an England captain, he will be identifying the man that leads England throughout their qualifying campaign.
“I have some idea of who it will be," Capello told BBC Sport. "The captain for the Czech Republic friendly in August will be the captain for the qualifiers."
John Terry and Rio Ferdinand are thought to be Capello's front-runners, and the Italian admits he will spend the summer deciding between two names."I have the summer to decide now," Capello was quoted as saying in The Daily Mail.
"I have not decided, but I have two ideas. That's enough for this moment."
