A brief statement on the official Rovers website indicated that the
Lancashire club have agreed compensation terms with their
near-neighbours, allowing Hughes to freely talk to City.
Hughes
will now presumably take up the option of joining Thaksin Shinawatra's
side at Eastlands, especially given that Chelsea are set to take on
Carlo Ancelotti instead of their former striker.
Thus the ex-Manchester United hero could be installed as the new manager of the Citizens as early as this week.
Hughes,
been with Rovers since 2004, the Blue-and-Whites being his first shot
at club management. Prior to that, he coached the Welsh national team.
Now,
though, the limitations of the Ewood Park side will perhaps see him
shift his allegiance to Eastlands, where he will most likely be given
the remit of building the side up for a top four finish in the
forseeable future.
