oaquin was one of many players who did not see eye-to-eye with coach
Ronald Koeman and openly questioned the tactics of the Dutchman on a
number of occasions during the latter part of the season.
The 26
year old wide-man struggled for form under Koeman, with the end result
being that he was omitted from the Spain squad selected by Luis
Aragones for Euro 2008, having been a mainstay in the national setup
for the last three major tournaments.
Such disappointments can
be difficult to overcome, and his agent Eduardo Espejo has suggested
that Joaquin may be forced to leave Valencia in order to make a fresh
start and re-ignite his career.
"Valencia are the owners of
Joaquin, and for that reason any decision we make will have to be
agreed upon mutually,” he told 'AS'.
“What is clear is that
there is much to talk about because Joaquin cannot have another year
like the last one. The disappointment has been huge.”
Clubs in
England and Italy are thought to be monitoring Joaquin's situation,
with the likes of Everton and AS Roma having previously been linked
with moves for the former-Betis winger.
