this lionel lewis went for trial before at man city?

even the commentator said that sg team are basically walking and ball watching most of the time. the ball always lost in the 3rd pass.
as i said before, if last night keeper is lionel lewis, we would have lost 8-0. the keeper is working extra hard because the defenders did not improve at all.
To me, it's like comparing a match of strength between a world class powerlifter and you... No matter how much you train or improved within a few short years, you still get dwarfed by the seasoned powerlifter anytime...
The level of the teams were just too far apart.

i agreed with this. that why we need to improve our teams more than just playing S league.

which is why this WC is good exposure for sg team. If didn't even improve sufficiently, the sg team won't even be able to reach this stage to get exposed to 2 of Asia's finest soccer teams

sorry no 4-0 scoreline, the best i can find is as above, still i dont see we are how in 2007 we can get 1:2 and 2008 we lost 2:0 home and away as improvement.

S-league is all Singapore got and has to nuture but what do you have in mind that can improve the situation besides playing a local league.Dont just criticise be constructive also.

So you do think that Saudi would stay constant and let other teams catch up with them?
Use my 2nd example. You compete in a feat of strength with the powerlifter. You lift 100kg deadlift in 2007 and he lifts 200kg (double yours).
Then in 2008, you lift 140kg and he lifts 320kg (more than double).
Can I say you didn't improve?
So how... Why don't you tell me using my previous example, if you improve in exams from <30 marks to 60 marks, will your teachers or your parents still tell you that you suck?
first, i never say singapore soccer sucks. i say we need improvment and we are not.
singapore lose to saudis in friendly 1:2 in 2007 and we lost saudis 2:0 home and away in 2008, and you call it improve? i hope that will answer your question on 30 or 60marks as irrelevant question.
in your opinion, maybe we improve, or in another words, our rivals are improving faster than we are.

You could also change it to, when your score goes from <30 to 60, your teacher or parents tell you that you have not improved.
You get my point.

Not maybe. We improved, but the Saudis improved faster. Maybe not faster, but they understood how we might have exploited any of their loopholes the last time, and closed it up. In that sense, it is totally unreasonable to say that we have not improved at all.

Besides exaggerating and hoping your home team falls flat on their faces what nice things can you say about the Lions? For starters I would say thank god they are no longer in the Malaysia Cup and then with the FTs playing for Singapore.Nothing to be as many countries uses FTs these days cuz the also want to improve. To say that Singapore Soccer has not improve not one bit is just unjustifiable and that is why you need to start enjoying ping pong cuz lioness also do play ping pong and they seldom lose.

It's like that one... Talk is cheap... He's not the one who represented Singapore in anything...
Is improvement only reflected in the scoreline ? I can see the way Singapore play now and the past , say 2 years back is different . The improvement is evident in their play . Back then , the national team can't even string a few passes together , all they can manage is playing the long pass to the strikers . Now they are able to play the ball in the middle of the park and create chances .
Defence and the attack department haven't improve much though . Just my 2 cents .
ok im looking at the match objectively, Singapore is STILL the team that packs up and go home after the first half coz our fitness really like shiet. we did improve our midfield and attacking since the last time we got trashed by malaysia...thats probably how we won the last few tiger cups. raddy did instilled teamwork in the players, that's how we got the good results against iraq, china and won lebanon. however, if anyone expects us to win Uzbeks or Saudis, both had qualified for world cup before...i'd say fat fat FAT hope.
gota improve on the fitness and defense, time to hire some ang moh fitness guru.
I agree on the fitness part... The Sg team did create some problems in the first few minutes... But as the match drags on, you see the Saudis dominating the match with their superior fitness level.
but the Saudis really *put water in this match le..
i tink..
anyway SG more/less hav improve =)
Dear Mr Reyes, when Laos lost 11-0 to Singapore you think the laotians punctured all their soccer balls to start playing tennis and sepak takraw?hahaha.Soccer is one beautiful game that even elephants play ....win or lose you tell them and I dont think they are interested just dont forget that the lions got this far for the first time.
imo, singapore did improve as a team. the FTs and the coach did make a difference. but we are a long way off the level of play displayed by the koreans, japs and saudi's.
it will take a while yet before singapore gets there. a 11 FTs starting line-up a start....

That is true and singapore has got some fine midfielders.Maybe they should get a striker coach like what Malaysia is doing with Ian Rush....how about they get Paolo Rossi or Gary Lineker>LOL

When Germany beat Poland with their FTs I bet they also didnt care if 11 were from Poland.Do what ever it takes to be a winner and that is not just soccer but in the name of competition
Singapore was awful. Yes some of you are right. They are really lousy. But the difference is instead of being lousy against Indonesia or Malaysia, we were "lousy" against Saudi Arabia, the team which has alot of experience in the World Cup itself. This is the first time we have make it to this stage of the qualifying rounds. Yes, they were "lousy" but shouldnt they be given credit for the improvement?

i think you need to be more transparent here.....there is an ancestral link or something that ties the player to play for that country for Europe. you cannot `suka suka' get the player in. i think poland or one of those eastern europe countries took in some african players in the past and i am sure if it is still allowed. however, top footballing nations do not go to that extent. they wanted to have some kind of `connection' before they are drafted into the national squad.
singapore's FTs drafted into the national soccer team is a joke. in many ways, i rather singapore have a first 11 of local bred players than these FTs. they do it for the money. allegiance to singapore? bah, singapore sold its soccer soul the moment people like egmar gonzales plays in a sanctioned match for the national team. people like abbas saad or elistair edwards don't count, they effectively are representing singapore as a `state' during the m-league when foreigners are allowed in all teams, including state teams in malaysia.
What if one day Sg buy over the whole chelsea team to play for Singapore? ![]()

Yeah why not? >LOL.Cuz if there are no FTs Singapore might not even be able to beat Bhutan. To me any FTs who wear the Singapore jersey is a Singaporean fit to represent.Period

I dont know much about SIngapore Socccer Fts but I believe the same rules apply too. They probably play in the S-league,live or study in Singapore for some years before trading their nationality.

the question you need to ask is did they really trade nationality or are they still holding the passports of their respective country? i am sure most did not give up the nationality of their country of birth.
here, singapore is trying to `buy success'. i guess this is widely accepted already, so there's little to add or say....
