  CHELSEA have offered AC Milan a world record ‘transfer fee’ of £20 million in a last ditch bid to bring their manager Carlo Ancelotti to Stamford Bridge.
  
  
  Chief executive Peter Kenyon was in Milan last night attempting to broker the deal and save Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich from potential embarrassment.
  
  
  Chelsea initially felt that Ancelotti would say ‘yes’ to a £7m-a-year deal to succeed the sacked Avram Grant, but he and AC Milan have so far rebuffed their overtures.

  Blues still tracking Carlo

  The Blues were believed to be looking elsewhere after Ancelotti insisted last week that he would be staying in Italy.
  
  However, it now appears Chelsea have resurrected their interest in Ancelotti with a high-ranking official from the Premier League club visiting Milan this weekend.
  
  Sky Sports News understands that chief executive Peter Kenyon travelled to Milan to discuss both the future of striker Didier Drogba and, more pressingly for Chelsea, Ancelotti.
  
  Reports have suggested that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is preparing a record compensation package worth £20million for Milan to part with Ancelotti.
  
  Roma coach Luciano Spalletti, Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli and former Internazionale chief Roberto Mancini have also been linked with the Chelsea job, while Portugal's Luiz Felipe Scolari has stated that he will not discuss his future until after 2008.

  What a waste of money... Ancelotti is not that great a manager considering he won their CL without coming close to the Serie A title at all... Maybe he is worse than Mancini...

  But sometimes the forbidden fruit always seem to taste sweeter at first look... lol

  Roman seem to look at Ancelotti as some forbidden fruit... lol

  AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he would only leave the San Siro to manage Roma. Ancelotti had been strongly tipped to replace Avram Grant at Chelsea after the Israeli was sacked last month. However, Ancelotti has since insisted he will remain in charge of Milan for next season.

  Ancelotti, though, has explained that if he were to one day part company with Rossoneri for another club it would be for Roma, a team he captained as a player during his eight-year stint at the Stadio Olimpico.

  "I have always said that I could only leave Milan for Roma," Ancelotti told Corriere dello Sport.
