LUIZ FELIPE SCOLARI is on the verge of making Deco his first Chelsea signing.
SunSport can reveal the Barcelona star left Portugal’s Euro 2008 HQ and took a flight out of Geneva at 10.10am yesterday. Deco is said to have flown to Croatia where Roman Abramovich has a boat moored in Dubrovnik.
He is expected back at the team hotel at 1pm on Friday. Playmaker Deco, 30, is valued at around £10million by Barca. And Blues owner Red Rom has no problem stumping up the cash to get Scolari his man.
But current Portugal boss Big Phil risks the wrath of the country’s fans for allowing Deco to leave yesterday. Scolari gave his men the day off after they reached the quarter-finals on Wednesday. But it is unusual for a player to leave the team hotel and fly out for transfer talks in the middle of a tournament.

SunSport can reveal Big Phil will contact Brazilian playmaker Ronnie in the next few days to assess his hunger and desire. Scolari is aware that signing Ronaldinho, 28, from Barcelona is a huge gamble — after he was plagued by injury and personal problems last season.
But his brother and agent, Roberto de Assis assured SunSport that the two-time World Player of the Year would relish a new start. Ronnie was part of Scolari’s World Cup- winning Brazil side in 2002 and Assis said: “At the moment Ronaldinho is taking a complete break at home in Porte Alegre.
“There are options for next season and obviously he knows Scolari very well and they have enjoyed great success together. “We’ll see what happens but my brother will be ready for next season.”
Assis has met with Chelsea in the past about a possible move for Ronaldinho — who is also a target for new Manchester City boss Mark Hughes. Barca have indicated their willingness to sell Ronnie after five years at the Nou Camp.
The fee will be around £20million and Ronnie will want around £120,000 per week. Those figures will not deter Chelsea, though their willingness to buy him will depend on Scolari’s assessment.

DON’T PRICE ME OUT SAYS DECO
DECO last night pleaded with Barcelona not to price him out of a move to Chelsea on the back of his performances for Portugal at Euro2008.
Chelsea were moving closer to £15million deal for the Barca star after he flew out of Portugal’s training camp on Thursday for talks in Barcelona. Playmaker Deco told reporters that his cloak-and-dagger mission had been to discuss his divorce – in reality it was for a meeting with his agent Jorge Mendes and Chelsea officials.
Luiz Felipe Scolari is moving quickly to reshape the Chelsea squad after being named as the club’s new manager on Wednesday night. Deco’s potential arrival raises even more question marks over the future of Frank Lampard, but he could still stay if Scolari makes it clear that the England star is part of his plans.
Deco, who is also being chased by his old boss Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan, admitted he is worried that Barcelona would now jack up his price.
“At my age you cannot ask for too much for me,” said Deco, who turns 31 this month.
Meanwhile, £40m Chelsea target Fernando Torres said last night that he would be staying at Anfield. He said: “I have no intention of leaving Liverpool. We need to focus our energies to give us the little step we need to get to the top teams.”

Former Porto ace denies finding agreement with Chelsea
Portugal star Deco has denied rumours he has finalised a move to Chelsea.
The Barcelona playmaker is thought to have played his last game for the La Liga side, and it is widely expected that he will join either Internazionale or Chelsea.
But since the announcement that his national coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari, will take charge at Chelsea next month, many now believe that Stamford Bridge is his favoured destination, with some reports suggesting he has already agreed a deal.
However, the Brazil-born midfielder insists he has not come to any agreement with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
"I've not signed anything with Chelsea, nor have I held any meetings in Dubrovnik with Abramovich," he told Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo.
