AC Milan target Emmanuel Adebayor appears set to stay at Arsenal following talks with Arsene Wenger over his future at Emirates Stadium.
Adebayor has been strongly linked with a move to Milan and his agent Stephane Courbis this week hinted that he would consider such a switch.
However, Wenger has always stressed that he does not want to sell Adebayor and the Togo international himself has also played down talk of an exit.
"My future with Arsenal has never been in doubt and I want to assure fans I will be here for many years," Adebayor said in The Sun.
"My agent has met with coach Arsene Wenger about a new deal and I am happy about how the talks are going so fans can rest assured."
Adebayor only signed a new deal last year but speculation suggests he could be ready to put pen-to-paper on a lucrative contract extension.
Reports in Italy have now stated that Adebayor's transfer to Milan has been shelved.
"For the moment we don't intend to open negotiations for the sale of Emmanuel Adebayor," La Gazzetta quoted a message from Arsenal to Milan as saying.
La Gazzetta also reported that Milan were willing to wait until later in the summer before renewing their interest, to give Wenger time to bring in a replacement.
