  Everton are reportedly preparing an ambitious bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Moutinho.

  The highly-rated 21-year-old is currently representing Portugal at the Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. But his club future remains a hot topic as he has been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal.

  The Sun claims that the Toffees are planning to pip United and the Gunners to the £16m-rated all-round midfielder, who is renowned for his accurate passing ability.
