Pele: Maradona And I Are Friends Not Enemies

Brazilian football legend Pele admits he bares no grudges against Maradona even though the former Argentina international launched a verbal attack on him.
Pele and Maradona are, perhaps, the two greatest ever footballers to have grace pitches around the world but they have never quite seen eye to eye given their past off the pitch.
Maradona recently stated that Pele had “No moral right to talk about me in any way.”
However, rather than reply with revenge, Pele has replied with forgiveness, understanding and respect.
“I have nothing against Maradona, in fact I pray for him,” Pele told El Mercurio.
“Maradona is always present when I pray to God and I have always tried to help him in everyway possible.
“People invent many things, they say that we are enemies, but this is untrue because I have taken part in many events with him.
“I have always said that he was a great player.
“As for what he said about me recently, I can’t be bothered to answer, I hope God forgives and protects him.”
El Pibe De Or will always be remembered for all the wrong reasons. He was arguably the greatest player the world has ever seen but his actions off the pitch turned many of his admirers against him.
