Riise moves to Roma in £4m deal

John Arne Riise has ended his seven-year association with Liverpool after Roma said last night that they had signed him on a four-year contract. Riise yesterday had a medical in the Italian capital after Liverpool accepted a deal that could rise to just over £4m.
Liverpool hope Aston Villa will lower their minimum £18m asking price for Gareth Barry after Villa agreed a fee of about £5m with Chelsea for the midfielder Steve Sidwell.
Manchester City expect to conclude the £18m signing of Jo, the Brazilian striker, from CSKA Moscow despite complications over his third-party ownership and an acceptance that he might initially struggle to obtain a work permit.
