
The Blaugrana economic vice-president stated that the Catalan club
would never pay that much for one player because it would it would go
beyond what was acceptable.
While Madrid continue to clamour for
the Portuguese star to join them, Soriano said that while Barça could
afford to join the bidding, it would no be sensible.
"There is
no limit for what we can spend. But the marker has to be common sense,"
he explained. "That is an example of no common sense and Barça would
not do that."
Soriano then revealed that talks with clubs about
off-loading Ronaldinho, Deco and Samuel Eto'o were all taking place and
indicated that deals could be reached soon.
"They are going well and are advanced," he said.
Finally,
the Barça money man revealed that the club is being run on sporting
values and not on commerical lines and in another sly dig at Madrid,
stated that selling merchandise was not a priority.
"It does not worry us much if we sell a certain number of replica shirts or not," he concluded.
