He is not Hiddink to South East Asia in this lifetime.
He is not Hiddink to South East Asia in this lifetime.
Russia is a young team that is willing to take risk and if they dont surprise us now they could do it in 2010.
it doesn surprise me.. i watched them play against sweden, and i was thinking this team could be the underdogs.. i watch the first half yest and they were simply controlling most of the game. one pt of time, russia 5 corners and holland 1. that kolodin guy packs quite a punch in his long range rightie.. very very job well done, guus hiddink, the magician..
go go russia...all the way to the finals!!!

Guus Hiddink is really amazing... He took a bunch of young Russian unknown players and mould them into a very good squad... Taking on the much hip about Dutch side and totally outplayed them... Had it not been for the Dutch keeper, Holland would have been dead and buried in normal time and wouldn't need to go into extra time...
Hiddink is just amazing when you look at his record... He took 3 very average sides and made them into international squad able to take on the best in the world... South Korea, Australia and now Russia...
One thing i notice about his team is... They are always very fit... His players seem to be able to run and run through-out the match and even into extra-time... Same with the South Korea and Australia side he manage...
Just glad that Chelsea went with Scolari and not him...
Don't mess with the Guus... lol
I'm officially a Guus fan now lol..
he is really fantastic.
i wonder if china can afford him.
Guus: We did the perfect job

GUUS HIDDINK saw Russia KO his countrymen and crowed: We outplayed them in every way. Dmitri Torbinsky and Andrei Arshavin struck late in extra time to give Dutchman Hiddink - a former Holland boss - a Euro 2008 semi-final spot.
Ruud van Nistelrooy had barely disrupted the Russians' superiority when his 86th minute sidefoot cancelled out Roman Pavlyuchenko's opener. And Russia chief Hiddink, 61, said after the 3-1 win: "Usually the Dutch are a team who one cannot outdo tactically, technically or physically, but we did on all three counts.
"Of course we realised we couldn't give away too many free-kicks to them but as you get tired you tend to commit more fouls. "However, my players responded really well and instead of relying on the counter-attack they pressed for the winning goal."
Star man Arshavin said: "The coach said he expected the Dutch would play very aggressively against us. "But it turned out that they ran out of breath before we did. At the end the better Dutchman - our trainer - won.
Team-mate Yuri Zhirkov also saluted his boss - the man dubbed a "coaching wizard" by the Russian media. Zhirkov said: "What else can you call him, given that he has taken so many teams to World Cups and European Championships."
Hiddink, meanwhile, insisted that losing manager Marco Van Basten, 43, will turn into a successful Holland chief. He said: "When I was Dutch team manager, around 1995, it was felt in the federation it was a pity if top players disappeared from the game. "We felt we could take advantage of some world-class players like Marco.
"I approached him at the end of his career, but he said he wasn't sure it was for him and didn't feel he'd make a good coach. "But that changed later on and he has done a very good job in a very short period of time."
I remember a name...something like Milosevic or something, this guy used to make headlines for leading the no hopers before Guus even came into the picture.I wonder if he is still alive and which team is he coaching now.

Well...sg govt LOVES to make use of the word foreign talent...now if they really want a person that can really be considered a foreign talent, he will be Guus Hiddink!
I really want to see if Guus touch of gold can turn the singapore to hold their own against stronger team in asia, like japan, korea and Austraila.
Who knows, maybe he can?
He even got the much shorter Koreans into the semi of the World Cup where they beat bigger and taller opponents... What other excuses can Portugal give for the way they defended?

Go easy on the fella lah.... he lost $50 leh.....
Besides, I'm sure that (almost) everyone was rooting for the Dutch to win. Holland was one of the most dazzling teams in the early stages, and Holland vs France still counts as a masterpiece to me.
Besides, who expected the Russians to play so well after their mauling at the hands of Spain?
russia were very disciplined. Russia conceded a goal in the 86mins.
If another team scored an equaliser in the 86mins against england, i bet england would cry already.
