interesting sidetrack, even tho' spain won the euro 08, there is a part of town in spain that is not celebrating. spoke to a spanish catalan friend yesterday and he brushed it off as spain being `lucky'.
true blue catalonian in barcelona never recognize the spain national team. in fact, barcelona have their own `national team' consisting of catalans, and organize their own international friendly. of course, these were never sanctioned nor recognized by UEFA or FIFA.
most euro 2008 winners started out as group stage winners.
When portugal lost to the swiss tamely and spain still won in incredible fashion in their last group game against greece, pple should start to see that portugal's reserve team lacks depth and the resolve to win games while spain is finally serious this time.
germany lost to croatia in the group stage but it was mainly due to a red card so cannot really count.
What? Germany's loss to Croatia was because they were outplayed, not because of red card at the closing stage of the game.
Originally posted by reyes:spain deserve to win. germany was outplay for most of the game.
the weakness lies in the german defence. the matersake and metzelder are out run by torres. they are make mistake by poor distribution of ball at own penalty area. causing the likes of schwesteiner and ballack to track back to defend. thus taken the creative out of german midfield.
the frings was also play out of position. i dont understand why he was play in the middle of the field instead of the wing. the midfield was too cramp and easily marshall by marcos senna, fabregas, vavi and iniesta.
can u pls spell their names kerrectly.
