Marseille fans have launched an appeal to raise the £22million they believe is needed to buy Chelsea star Didier Drogba this summer.

New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari claims Drogba is still "200% in his plans" but the striker is reportedly adamant that he will be heading for the Stamford Bridge exit door.

Barcelona, AC Milan and Inter Milan are all said to be interested in the Ivory Coast international but Marseille fans have launched an audacious bid to bring the 30-year-old back to the club he left four years ago.

A supporter called Kain has set up the collective on website Doodle asking fellow fans to pledge one, two or five euros to the club, writing: "Let's try to see if us supporters can pay for him by each donating one or two euros maximum to the club."

The collective attracted immediate attention and has already raised nearly 5,000 euros thanks in part to 800 fans each pledging the maximum five euros.

"We know that it would be very, very, very complex to achieve this, even impossible," one of its contributors Yaniss told regional newspaper La Provence.

"But what we want is only that it arrives to the attention of Pape Diouf and other OM directors."

Marseille president Pape Diouf claims to be "amused" by an appeal launched by his club's fans to raise the £22million needed to buy Chelsea star Didier Drogba.

New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari claims Drogba is still "200 per cent in his plans" but the striker is reportedly adamant that he will be heading for the Stamford Bridge exit door.

Barcelona, AC Milan and Inter Milan are all said to be interested in the Ivory Coast international but Marseille fans have launched an audacious bid to bring the 30-year-old back to the club he left four years ago.

Despite suffering a setback when the initial site crashed, the new appeal reached the one million-euro mark on Sunday.

The fans behind the initiative admitted that it would be impossible to raise the money to buy Drogba, instead insisting that the point of the project was to alert Diouf to the fans' wishes.

"I'm surprised and amused. It shows the true passion of our supporters," Diouf told regional newspaper La Provence.

However, he joked that even if the fans could raise the money for the transfer, that alone would not be enough.

"I know what Drogba earns at Chelsea!" he added.

Instead Diouf's attention has been focused on adding Nice forward Bakary Kone to Marseille's attacking line.

Kone admitted last week he could not imagine playing for the south coast club again following the rejection of a bid of 8.5million euros, which included an extra million in bonuses.

this is very very laughable.  why would drogba want to even go back to marseille??? players want to move on to experience football elsewhere...

for drogba, i can only see him remain in england, or move to italy.

    Diouf realistic over Drogba

Marseille president Pape Diouf has voiced his surprise after learning of an attempt by supporters to raise money for a Didier Drogba move.

Drogba joined Chelsea from Marseille in 2004 and fans of the French club are now desperate to see him return.

They are looking to raise 28million euros (£22.4million) and on Saturday their appeal reached the 1million euro mark.

The supporters have insisted that the point of the project is to alert Diouf to their wishes, and the president has been impressed by their efforts.

"I'm surprised and amused. It shows the true passion of our supporters," Diouf told La Provence.

Drogba has been linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer despite Luiz Felipe Scolari insisting that he remains '200 per cent in his plans'.

Milan, Internazionale and Barcelona are all reportedly interested and Diouf accepts that Marseille would not be able to afford Drogba, even if the fans could raise the money for a transfer.

"I know what Drogba earns at Chelsea," said Diouf.
