"It's good for me, a great start. It's also good for the team and we're
all happy with how it went," the Mexican told Spurs' official website.
"I'm
very happy to be here in this team. I feel I've settled well. The
football is enjoyable and the players have helped me a lot."
Assistant
manager Gustavo Poyet was pleased with the victory and in particular
the attitude of a team that had an uninspired, dead-rubber finish to
last season.
"The players had 45 minutes each, we've no injuries and it was a good win - that's good new for everyone," he said.
"It's
always tough to score the first goal in these games, the opposition is
always very determined, but we showed good movement throughout and
eventually it became easier.
"The attitude pleased me the most - the lads took it seriously and that's what we asked for.
"It
was about playing football again and fitness and when you play local
teams like this and start scoring goals you can relax but that wasn't
the case. We drove on looking for more."
