  Cech makes Baggies switch

  West Bromwich Albion have signed Slovakia international left-back Marek Cech from FC Porto.

   

  The 25-year-old has penned a three-year contract with the Barclays Premier League newcomers for a fee of £1.4million.

  Cech, who can also play on the left side of midfield, has linked up with Tony Mowbray's side on their pre-season tour of Holland and Germany.

  Junior ranks

  The 6ft 1in defender has made 29 senior appearances for his country, scoring three goals - including two in a 5-0 Euro 2008 qualifying win over San Marino in November.

  He came through the junior ranks at Inter Bratislava before joining Czech side Sparta Prague in 2004.

  A move to Porto followed just 12 months later where he became part of the side to win the last three Portuguese league titles.
