West Ham insist they do not intend to sell Robert Green, but they will not be offering him a new contract this summer.
The Hammers issued an official response to Green, after the goalkeeper moaned that he was paid less than any of the starting XI.
Green claimed West Ham were showing him no respect by undervaluing his importance to the squad, and he hinted he may leave if he felt more wanted elsewhere.
West Ham insist they plan to discuss the England man’s future in a year’s time, not before, and they do not intend to sell him in the mean time.
“Less than a year ago, Robert Green entered into a five-year contract with West Ham United. The club were delighted to recognise his status as our number one goalkeeper and rewarded him with this long-term deal,” chief executive Scott Duxbury told the club’s official website.
"At the time the player entered into the new contract, he requested a mechanism to review the terms in summer 2009. This was and remains the appropriate time to review.
“We value Robert Green highly, that is why we gave him a five-year contract less than 12 months ago.
“We have no intention of selling him and do not propose to comment on this further."
