  A club statement has now confirmed his imminent departure: “Chelsea Football Club has agreed a free for the transfer of Khalid Boulahrouz to VfB Stuttgart in Germany,” it read.

  “We would like to thank Khalid for his contribution while he was at Chelsea FC and we would like to wish him luck at his new club.”

  Boulahrouz – who caught the eye with his country at Euro 2008 - returns to the Bundesliga where he impressed with Hamburg between January 2005 and August 2006.
