Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has revealed he is still willing to wheel and deal in the transfer market before the deadline at the end of August.
The Spanish boss is prepared to sell some of his fringe players in order to fund more reinforcements with Gareth Barry still a target despite the protracted negotiations with Aston Villa.
After landing Robbie Keane from Tottenham, Benitez has pointed out that he does not want to sell Alvaro Arbeloa, despite reports that the defender is unsettled on Merseyside.
However, he will be willing to offload other members of his first-team squad if the price is right.
"We knew that we could only spend money by selling players and we have been doing this," Benitez stressed.
"We are still trying to sign the players that we need, and if we need to sell someone now, okay, we will do so.
"If we can do it [the Barry transfer] before the end of the transfer window, we will continue to try.
"We will always continue to improve our squad."
