Tottenham will use the cash from Robbie Keane's £20million 'transfer' to Liverpool to complete a sensational double capture of David Bentley and Andrei Arshavin.
Spurs Juande Ramos has been handed £34m by the White Hart Lane hierarchy and will sign Blackburn and England winger Bentley today for around £15m before pursuing Russia's Euro 2008 star Arshavin.
Wantaway Bentley, who was undergoing a medical in London this morning, will finally get his move after Rovers gave up hope of persuading him to stay. And Arshavin will sign from UEFA Cup winners Zenit St Petersburg in a £19m switch, according to The Daily Mirror.
This double swoop should appease White Hart Lane fans - although chairman Daniel Levy also has emergency plans to buy another striker if the right offer comes in for Dimitar Berbatov - widely thought to be Arshavin's international team-mate Roman Palyuvchenko.
The Spartak Moscow striker will cost Tottenham £12m. Bentley is set to agree terms on a £50,000-a-week contract at Tottenham today, but is sure to accept - even if the deal is not much more than he could have banked at Ewood Park until his fall-out there.
Sportsmail online understands that the deal for Arshavin is close to being finalised after the clubs agreed a fee, and he will sign subject to a work permit. Boss Juande Ramos saw Spurs' money men come up with an improved offer yesterday and Zenit, who had been hoping for as much as £24m, reluctantly let their captain go.
It is a major coup for Spurs, reeling from the loss of Keane to Liverpool, and they have beaten Barcelona for Arshavin, with the Catalans only rating him at £15m.
wahh damn scary lols.. man u is in for a rideeeeee...
how come tottenham so rich wan suddenly? who bought them?!
i hope they dun do a leeds.
actually, i hope they do. ![]()
Well, I think if they are planning to sell Berbatov, they should have a huge budget to buy new players... As it is, they have already received more from the transfer fee than they have spent... A few players to Sunderland and Keane's deal to Pool have seen them generate over $40m... And if they add Berbatov in there... it could be about $70 million from sales alone... so you see, they didn't even come out one cent yet from their own pocket this season...

Boyhood Spurs fan Bentley, 23, admitted he was amazed they wanted to sign him after his spell with the Gunners. But the midfielder insists he jumped at the chance of joining Juande Ramos' revolution at White Hart Lane.
He said: “It means the world to join Tottenham. “Gazza was my favourite player, all my mates are Tottenham fans and there’s a piece of my heart at this club. “I didn’t think they would be interested in me and when it became available there was nowhere else I wanted to go.
“Making the move here was an easy decision to make. I’ve been trying my hardest to come here and be part of this. "All my friends are season-ticket holders. All I want to do is just get out there.”
England international Bentley, who left Arsenal in 2006, has no fears over any backlash in the North London derby. He added: “That’s in the past. "I grew up through the Arsenal youth team but it’s not a problem for me — all my heart is at Tottenham and all my passion will be tunnelled into doing well for Tottenham.”
And Bentley is condident that his new side can mount a serious challenge for the Premier League top four. He said: “We can do anything we want, anything we put our minds to.
"You’ve seen what Juande Ramos did last year — the fitness and level of play has risen and I want to be part of that, hopefully we’ll keep progressing and doing well.
“It’s all there for us — if we’re all up for it it’s quite possible. I’m excited by it. "There are a lot of good players here, you look at Luka Modric, Giovani dos Santos and I’m looking forward to fitting in the side somewhere."
Ramos was delighted to bring the Rovers ace to White Hart Lane as his latest big summer signing. The Spurs boss said: “I’m sure he will bring the best ability to our team and we can help him maximise his potential."
