Berbatov is taking Spurs for a ride, says Chris Waddle

Former Tottenham ace Chris Waddle last night blasted Dimitar Berbatov's conduct in trying to force his way out of White Hart Lane. Waddle, who spent four years at Spurs before being sold by Terry Venables to Marseille in 1988, is incensed at Berbatov's behaviour.
As Mirror Sport reported yesterday, Barcelona are ready to frustrate Manchester United by making a £24million bid for the Bulgarian, who has made no secret of his desire to leave. But Waddle, the newest member of the Setanta Sports commentary team, accused Berbatov of trying to take the club for a ride.
Waddle said: "Berbatov is a class act but you wonder why these guys sign four and five-year contracts? "Was his intention always to play for one or two years and move on? FIFA should bring a law in which says if you sign for five years, then you cannot leave unless you have not played a certain amount of games.
"If you are not featuring, then fine, you can leave. But if you're No.1 choice and playing 75 per cent of the games, not counting injury, the club should have the right to keep you. "Berbatov wants to go. Maybe if he doesn't go, he'll spit the dummy out and sulk until January."
