Liverpool's owners have set their own price on Gareth Barry – just £12million. And that cut-price valuation will cause more problems with boss Rafa Benitez.
The Anfield boss is not happy that Americans Tom Hicks and George Gillett agree with chief executive Rick Parry that Aston Villa’s £18m asking price for the England midfielder is unrealistic.
The Liverpool heirarchy are only prepared to do business if Villa slash a third off their Barry price-tag.
The move will anger Villa boss Martin O’Neill, who has now told his former captain he can leave after a summer spent trying to resist Liverpool’s overtures.
Benitez will be just as furious - and the situation could re-open rifts between the Spaniard and his employers.
Lol, they themselves setting unrealistic prices and now saying others....ironic!
6 million price cut...if its me, I would still sell sia.
if this report is true then i think Liverpool is just trying to be funny.. agreed to up the price to 18m just 30mins after dateline given by Villa the now decided to lower their valuation to just 12m

mind games
This will be the last season for Ah Ben in Liverpool.
Hope he dun use this failure as a reason for not winning any honours.
The management and him have serious gap in understanding each other.
Ah Ben have to beg and make a fuss for the players that he want.
And Liverpool management have really no money in building the squad and they do not have the interest of the club at heart for not letting go of their control and share so that more funds can be injected for more players.

The new stadium is very important, its for them to earn more money mah...
I think they have to be stingy like Wenger - Buy Low and Sell High.
As for Ah Ben, he place too much emphasis on the CL.
EPL should be the arena that he should overcome.
He should start outwiting the old fox, Alex.
I think the press have nothing to write about this season when the two red clash as he have lost 7 out of 8 clashes.
Alex dun even give a damn about Liverpool as he know they are NOT a threat.
better save up the money ah ben.barry is good but i rather keep alonso.money can be use to purchase joe cole if the rumours are right.
