Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal could make a new signing this week.
The Gunners are experiencing an early-season injury crisis and ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against Twente, Wenger has been hit hardest in midfield.
“It’s the most problematic start to a season numbers wise,” said Wenger.
“It’s a lot of responsibility for the young player because money is an issue. It is the biggest game of the season because if you lose a Premier League game you can still get back. Lose a Champions League qualifier and it’s a big deal for us."
Wenger maintains that he needs to sign at least one more new player, with reports claiming Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler is a target.
“If you consider all that, you can see our squad is so short. I have said many times we are short of one player and I hope I will be capable of doing something this week or before the transfer deadline.”
seriously they are history..
All this happends because Arsene Wenger refuses to sign a proven player
Dont write off gunners yet.
2 season ago, we lost campbell, pires, cole
last season, gunners lost henry, lunjberg, lauren.
this season, we lost flamini, helb, lehmann, gilberto.
during that period, arsenal are in a champion league final, finishing in top 4. qualify from the UCL group stages. by spending less than the top 7-8 premier league teams.
If i saw the above statistic, i would be more concerned over why so many good players are leaving...

Most importantly, they didn't win anything.

I'm an arsenal's fan for almost 15yrs.
I do feel fastructed sometimes when they won ntg...
but..come to think of it! what AW said could be quite true & realistic!
" What's the point for winning the trophy if we'll to go into bankcrapcy"
remember what happen to 'Leed Utd"? what happen to "Lazio"
if you guys think managing a club like arsenal is so easy then go be one. putting all the star players together doesn't mean you'll win the title. i believe AW knows what is he doing best for the club.
Well yeah sure he believes he's doing the best for the club. Does'nt every manager? Problem is, sometimes they're not right
i think he has done a good job so far considering the financial support that the club has given him. i don't think any other manager would be able to do what he has accomplished by leading the gunners to thechampion league final and finishing in top 4 in the same situation.

agreed!
imagine, how to buy all proven players wif a budget of not more then 30m every years?
if compare to JM, he had to spend almost 100m to win the 1st EPL (but no CL as well). & still cant hold on the title next year!!
look as B. spend 50 over m last year! ended only no 4 in EPL.
Are those manager consider 'GOOD'???
gunners for life =D
why blame AW? he just have to make do with whatever fund the board allocated to him as current season budget, no doubt it might be him thats proposing the budget but if the funds are low how would you be expecting him to spend?
cant imagine arsenal without him. who else is capable taking over him??
in wenger we trust
it true arsenal dont win anything for past 3/4 season. but base on the budget we spent, i dont think any gunners fans could have fault AW. in fact i like the tag of underdogs everyseason. seeing youngsters coming up arsenal ranks, is equally satisfying.
look at liverpool ,spurs, nwecastle spent hundred millions and they team is what level?
man utd, i hope they dont go bankrupt.

that sounds like sour grapes to me..
its true that Arsenal spent pretty much lesser then many other clubs but to say its also satisfying to see youngsters coming thru arsenal ranks and enjoying the underdog tag is abit fake lor..

the difference between u and me is definition of being as true fan.
u define winning as everything, but me, win or not , will always be a gunners fans. if arsenal win, fine, dont win, but play attractive football suit me fine!
we got off a good start by spending little money is definitely better than spurs who spent a big chuck yet lose on the opening day to who? boro!

i got to say wenger has a knack for youngsters.. look at bentley and aliadiere.. solid players.. ![]()
I dunno, there was an article sometime back about him having the money but he just does'nt wanna spend. So in the end its he has the money but just does'nt wanna use it.
I don't really think arsenal has that $$, mainly due to new stadium? and it's not AW style to just buy any star players.
Just look at Real Madrid a few season ago. They won nothing even though they had a start studded team with the likes of beckham and roberto carlos. But last season they won with young players like gago and marcelo.

its true for both case. the new stadium + world wide credit crunch are starting to bite into footballing world.
the total transfer market value this yr is lower than last year in EPL.
Aw use to buy star player before the arrival of billionaire into EPL change his style of mangement. he realise he just cannot out bid anyone if man utd, chelsea, liverpool are interested.
