David Moyes insists he will not change his transfer policy amid growing concerns over the size of Everton’s squad.
An opening day home defeat to Blackburn exposed a threadbare squad minus a single summer signing.
Injuries have played their part too with influential midfielders Tim Cahill and Steven Pienaar currently laid up but it is the lack of new arrivals that has most concerned Toffees supporters.
“I’m not changing,” Moyes insisted. “I’m only going to bring quality in. We haven’t got the money to go out and buy six £15m players.
“We don’t have that, so of course we are going to bring players in who are down at the lower end of the market. But - as I’ve always said - I’m looking to get the main (quality) players in first. Then we will look at what we do after that."
Mikel Arteta believes it is up to the players currently at Everton to lift the gloom descending on Goodison Park.
“The only people who can give things a lift at the minute are the players who are here,” said Arteta. “The fans have been terrific and tried to stay behind the team. We have just got to get on with things because nobody is going to feel sorry for us.
“Blackburn? They didn’t feel sorry for us, did they? All we can do now is maximise everything that we have got here, get the best from every single player.
“I’m sure some signings will happen this week. When it happens, it’s going to be big.”
everton's style of play is very very boring.
