AC Milan director Silvano Ramaccioni believes Chelsea flop Andriy Shevchenko is on the verge of securing a return to the San Siro.
The Ukraine striker has endured two disappointing years at Stamford Bridge following a big-money move from Milan.
Reports suggest Shevchenko could return to Milan in what would initially be a season-long loan deal following a meeting between former club president Silvio Berlusconi and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in Sardinia last Thursday.
The Italian press claim the deal will be finalised on Thursday or at the latest 24 hours later and Ramaccioni agrees.
"Shevchenko in the Rossoneri shirt? There really isn't much more to be done," he told Radio Goal. "We are close to the end of the deal and I hope that these little things that have to be fulfilled are done as soon as possible.
"I would be extremely delighted if Shevchenko returns to Milan and I am ready to embrace the Ukraine champion again, for us it's about a return home."
Shevchenko is AC Milan's second-most prolific goalscorer of all-time having scored 127 goals in 208 games during a seven-year career.

I thought: CLOSED!
but that'll only be subjected to Kaka moving to Chelsea i believe

Shevchenko: have cost Chelsea €3.3m per goal and could get higher.
The Rossoneri have Kaka, Alexandre Pato, Ronaldinho, Marco Borriello and Filippo Inzaghi in their armoury and Shevchenko’s arrival will make competition even more tough for places this term.
However, Ancelotti seems to like the idea of the Ukrainian’s return to San Siro and he reveals it will not be a problem. “The Shevchenko news has surprised me as there is nothing official in it just yet,” Ancelotti told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
“Do I think it would be a risky decision? We are used to confronting battles and taking risks like always with no problems. Sometimes they have worked, other times they haven’t.”
Sheva’s arrival seems imminent and an announcement to confirm the deal is expected by the club today. Rossoneri director Adriano Galliani is set to meet Chelsea chiefs in Monte Carlo to seal a transfer for the Blues man according to reports in Italy.
The former Dynamo Kiev star has failed to make an impact in England since moving their in 2006 for €30m. He has only scored nine times for the Stamford Bridge outfit, meaning Chelsea paid a whopping €3.3m per goal.
Reports in Italy are now claiming there are two reasons for Chelsea paying AC Milan to take Andriy Shevchenko off their hands. The first, of course, is that he's rubbish. But the second, according to Tuttosport is Chelsea will continue to pay Andrei Shevchenko's wages even though he is being loaned to AC Milan. Why? Because if they do Milan promise not to sell Kaka to anyone else next summer until Chelsea have been given first dibs on putting an inflated contract in front of the Brazilian's Mr 10 per cent.
Chelsea aren't gonna go a whole year without signing a Brazilian superstar though, with Peter Kenyon currently in Madrid ready to hand over a suitcase full of 40 million euros in return for Robinho.
