Robinho has been left of Real Madrid’s squad for their Liga opener against Deportivo La Coruna, as the transfer saga surrounding the Brazilian rumbles on.
Chelsea are still looking to wrap up a deal for the Brazilian, despite Real reportedly pulling the plug on the move at the end of the week.
Real chairman Ramon Calderon is an admirer of the Brazilian and wants to keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu, but Robinho has made it clear he wants to head to West London.
Madrid coach Bernd Schuster is caught in the middle, but he has taken the decision to omit Robinho from his plans as he feels it will enable the rest of the squad to focus on the task at hand.
”This is my decision and not the club’s,” said Schuster. “I believe that this is the best thing.
”I have not spoken with the player, but I can say that he has not refused to travel with the squad.
”I maintain that Robinho is an important player and I want him to remain with us.”
