Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is confident Steven Gerrard will be fit to face Manchester United in next week's Premier League clash at Anfield.
The Reds captain is recovering from a groin operation which has ruled him out of England's World Cup qualifiers with Andorra and Croatia.
The injury is expected to sideline Gerrard for up to 15 days, leaving him with a race against time to be fit for the visit of arch-rivals United on September 13.
But Benitez says the midfielder is making good progress in his recovery and is hopeful he will be back in time for the Anfield meeting.
"Steven is okay. He's started with bicycle work and will start jogging, so I think he will be ready soon," Benitez told the club's official website.

Fernando Torres may yet be fit to play against Manchester United after Rafa Benitez refused to rule his star striker out of the September 13 blockbuster.
Torres tore a hamstring during Liverpool’s 0-0 draw at Aston Villa, and it appeared he would miss the visit of United after Benitez predicted a two-three week lay-off.
The Spain international, who netted 24 league goals last season, is showing signs of rapid progress though and has already returned to training along with fellow injury concern Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard is recovering from minor groin surgery and Benitez believes his skipper is marginally ahead of Torres in the race to be fit.
However, the Reds boss revealed both players could be back in 10 days, and if Torres keeps beating his manager’s predictions he stands an outside chance of playing when United visit Anfield in nine days’ away.
"Both players are now back jogging and will be out for ten to twelve days," Benitez told the club’s official website.
"Gerrard might be back before Torres but you never know."
