Fernando Morientes' agent has intimated that Tottenham are keeping tabs on the Valencia striker, who is out of favour at the Mestalla.
The former Liverpool forward has reportedly fallen down the pecking order at the Mestalla, and was an unused substitute in the club's opening game of the new Primera Liga season against Mallorca.
He recently admitted that this season is likely to be his last at Valencia due to his lack of starting opportunities.
Spurs boss Juande Ramos currently has just Fraizer Campbell, Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko at his attacking disposal and it has been suggested in Tuesday's press that the Spanish coach could bid for Morientes in January in order to bolster his firepower.
Morientes' agent, Gines Carvajal, said in the Daily Mirror: "Tottenham know about Fernando from his time at Liverpool."
The 32-year-old scored eight goals in 41 Premier League appearances during his 16 months at Anfield.
spurs were terrible last night. they lost again.
i think spurs better start keeping tabs on a new manager
dont sign for the sake of making the numbers. morientes is not going to make the difference for spurs.
Really dont understand why spurs can be so screw up dispite all the money they have spent.
The only bright spot and best thing that could happen to spurs this season is they sold all their first choice striker for a combine of 50 million pound. what has they bought in return? Fraizer Campbell, Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Spurs will remain a joke who talk big off the field and do little on the field.
martin jol is leading hamburg to the top of the bundesliga. does that rub salt to the already sore wound?
ramos a coach who need poyet as a translator to communicate with his player? that itself is more of a hindrance than of any help to the club.
