Daniel Agger has cast doubt on his Liverpool future by confirming he is aware of the workings of the Webster Clause.
A metatarsal injury has sidelined Agger for most of the last year and he has grown frustrated with his current plight.
Under Fifa guidelines, players can buy themselves out of their contract three years after the deal was signed.
Agger joined The Reds in January 2006 and would be entitled to buy himself out of his contract in the January transfer window.
The Reds rate the Danish defender highly and are keen to tie him to a new deal. However, the player has found himself down the pecking order at Anfield following a season ravaged by injury.
Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel are ahead of Agger in the pecking order and he has hinted he is mulling over his options.
”I know about the Webster ruling but I have no further comment,” Agger is quoted as saying in the Daily Express.
