Chelsea's injury woes deepened on Wednesday night when they lost Didier Drogba with damaged knee ligaments. The Ivory Coast international striker is likely to be out of action for six weeks.
Luiz Felipe Scolari, the Chelsea manager, has already lost midfielder Michael Essien for the majority of the season with a knee injury and Ricardo Carvalho (knee) and Deco (thigh) are both still out having been injured in the 1-1 Premier League draw with Manchester United last month.
Not that the treatment room at Old Trafford has been any less busy. Michael Carrick could be out for another 5 weeks, Owen Hargreaves is currently still suffering from irritation of the patella tendon. Paul Scholes is out for ten weeks with knee ligament damage and United will learn today how serious is the ankle injury suffered by Wayne Rooney against Danish side Aalborg in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Who do you think will be missed most of the players currently sidelined and which squad do you think is better prepared to withstand a catalogue of injuries to key players?
With Liverpool boasting a near-clean bill of health at present, could this week’s casualty list among the Big Two open the door for someone else to mount a credible Premier League title challenge this season?
Both ManU and Chelsea is pretty well covered, but it all depends on who is injured, certain players are irreplacable, players like Ronaldo & Rio for ManU and players like Lampard, Terry and to a extend Drogba can't be absent for long period of time.. a couple of weeks might not meant much but when they're no around of more then that, chances is that the overall team performance suffer as a result..
i think.. he going to be the next luiz ronaldo.. just look at the weight he put on recently
Scholes, Carrick, Hargreaves all injuried.... Even Possebon a ball winning midfielder is injuried... We are left with Fletcher, Anderson and Giggs who can play well down the middle

But with all normal human being, when you reach 30, your body isn't as good as when you were in your mid 20s... Some players know how to adjust while some continue their normal lifestyle... which isn't good enough...
i would say that manchester united and chelsea 2nd team will be better den liverpool 1st team =) mayb only torres. but lampard is still around.

last season, lampard, terry out for almost half season. drogba, kalou, essien mikel out for ANC. didnt chelsea manage to get to final of CL and Carling. and 2nd in EPL. liverpool gt full squad yet didnt managed to win anything. Man utd was the luckiest. full squad and they gt CL and EPL. but this season chelsea is more hungier den last. i am sure they will at least still in all cups till all come back.
