Only goal difference separates the two sides, with both collecting six
wins and two draws in their first eight games of the Premier League
season.
Ferguson's Manchester United, meanwhile, could be eight
points off the pace depending on the result of today's clash at
Stamford Bridge.
But that hasn't stopped the Scot from pitching in his two cents.
"I don’t think it’s the most important top-of-the-table clash," Ferguson said in The Sun.
Some
might think it curious that the United boss would dismiss Liverpool
after they beat his side only last month at Anfield. However, others
will no doubt appreciate Ferguson's long-term outlook.
The
Merseysiders have failed to mount a title challenge for several years
now - the best finish they have managed under Rafael Benitez is third
place, after all.
And when you consider that Chelsea haven't
lost at home since 2004, Ferguson's views - churlish though they may
seem - are not unfounded.
The Scot went on to suggest that
Arsenal, often criticised for their collective lack of experience, have
more chance downing the Blues and pushing for honours.
"When Arsenal play Chelsea could be more significant," Ferguson said.
"There
have been quite a few Chelsea and Liverpool 0-0s over the past few
years. Sunday’s game will be very tight, not many goals in it.
"But Arsenal could win there because they’ve got the quality to win."
yea.. arsenal..
this season? doesnt look like it.. chelsea looks like an invincible force with huge chunk of players that has played together for years, plus an awesomeness coach, and really good depth. chelsea should dominate this season..
i also think liverpool don play world class soccer. but instead they "force" teams to play their type of dull soccer.
