Alonso: is adamant it should go down in history that credit for the winner should go to him rather than an own goal.
It was Alonso’s deflected shot that won it for Liverpool and the Spaniard is convinced he should be allowed to keep the goal. His 10th-minute effort took a touch off Blues defender Jose Bosingwa before finding its way past Petr Cech.
The Liverpool midfielder's deflected shot gave the Reds a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge — and confirmed their claim as title contenders. But after seeing a second-half free-kick smash against the post, the Spaniard is adamant credit for the winner should go to him.
Alonso said: "It was my goal. The shot was on its way towards the goal when it was deflected. "But that happens, that's part of football and you have to cope with these things when they go for you and when they go against you.
"I could have had a second goal as well when the ball hit the post but the main thing is to get the three points. "It was very important for us because in the last few seasons in the league we have been coming here and we haven't had the best results.
"So we are really pleased to get the result and to take the points."
if not for the deflection he wouldnt have scored.
a deflection is not really considered an own goal.
there is a difference
if the shot is on target it should be credited to him.
rubbish, then alot of players also shouldn't have their names on the scoring sheet.
the shots then end up as lobs after deflecting off a defender are credited to the person who shot.
like i said, an own goal and a deflection is different.
maybe i should explain more clearly.
if the shot is on target and deflected in the credit goes to the shooter.
if the shot is not on target but went into the net the credit/blame goes to whoever deflected it.
on target means assuming there is nobody (to understand better, though not logical) the ball will roll into the net.
it doesn't matter.
its was not an intentional kick by the defender to put the ball away
an own goal is when u put a corner in and the guy heads into his net.
an own goal is when there is a shot and he sticks out his leg to try to put it out and it ends up in the net
a deflection is when the guy can't do anything about it.
i ram the ball against u and it deflects against u and it goes in. it is a deflection
i ram the ball towards goal (doesn't matter if its on target or not), u stick out your leg to block it and it goes into the goal, that is an own goal.
that said, a free kick which is going off target, deflects off the wall and goes into the net.
that is not an own goal.
a goal is either classified own goal or goal. there is no such classification as a deflection.
a goal has to be credited to a player. so the goal is either an own goal or a goal by the opposite team.
then it goes to Alonso
i checked and the goal was rightfully credited to him.
liverpool played well, whatever whoever says. even though i still dont like them..
