Gerrard: We can beat anyone

Steven Gerrard says Liverpool have greater belief than ever before this season – but insists they will not get carried away with their success so far.
After beating Manchester United and Chelsea and moving three points clear at the top, Liverpool are now being treated as very serious contenders for the title this season.
But Gerrard says that teams will always invest extra effort to beat the league leaders and knows they cannot afford to lose focus.
“It is a great feeling to be top of the table, especially knowing that we have beaten two of our main title rivals along the way,” he said.
“This season, we have a belief that we can go anywhere and win.
“We believe that we can win in any situation, even when we have backed ourselves into a corner, but no one here is going to be getting carried away with our position after recent results.
“There is extra pressure being top of the table – we are there to be shot at and we become an even bigger scalp for the rest of the league.”
