Sporting: We had no Veloso offers

Sporting did not receive an offer from England for Miguel Veloso, according to the club’s sports director.
The 22-year-old midfielder was the subject of speculation in the summer, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham among the clubs linked with a move.
And, earlier this month, Veloso appeared to confirm that there had been a bid when he said: “It's true that I had a chance to escape to England in the summer, but we could not close a deal.”
However, he has now agreed a five-year deal to remain in Portugal and sports director Pedro Barbosa claims there was never a concrete offer for the player to move to The Premier League.
“We have never received a formal offer for Miguel Veloso from England,” he told O Jogo.
“What the newspapers say is one thing, but there were no documents submitted.”
