City are geared and ready to splash the clash - with several targets already identified. Hughes has said that his team needs strengthening in all areas and he plans to bring in the necessary players to do that.
Hughes will certainly be on the look out for a world class defender or two as City have conceded 16 goals in their last 10 Premier League games, and have not made the full impact they thought they would after the acquisition of Robinho.
Speaking to The Daily Star, Hughes said, "The transfer targets and our strategy for player acquisition has been presented to the owners. "So, we are going to have further discussions along those lines. "We are just planning to add to the quality that we have. I'm not going to go into details. I don't want to flag up any targets that we have. That would be wrong.
"In fairness, we are looking to be stronger in all areas and if we can bring in quality players, we will. "I have always said we are looking to get the balance of the squad and of the team right. When I came here, for instance, we had nine or ten strikers. "We have addressed that to a certain extent. Now, other areas of the team need addressing as well."
However, even with the promise of new world class players arriving at the club, the City boss is keen to highlight the fact that he will use the club's youth players if they continue to perform well, no matter who arrives at the club in January.
Hughes is keen to use the Manchester City academy to develop world class stars rather than having to buy them, and has ensured every player will get their chance if they impress, with Hughes saying, "Every day when players come to training I am making judgements on them.
"Everybody here has a great opportunity. If they understand that, they can grasp it and have a long future here, irrespective of who we bring to the club."
yayayayayayaya, that's the best you can do to build up man city.
First of all, I think they should offload the excess players in their reserve team... they got like 30 over players in the first team...all sit and warm bench only.
alot of ppl going to hate manche$ter city now?
Maybe won't hate that much. Manchester City recently bailed out Barclays.

Just weeks after splashing out £32m for Robinho, City will spend even bigger in January to land the 20-year-old Atletico Madrid striker.
City are already in talks with the Spanish club for the youngster, who many of Europe’s top coaches rate more highly than Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
It looks certain Mark Hughes will land the player in the January transfer window and thus sicken Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho. The Italians were turned down when they offered £25m in the summer but City are now big favourites to land FIFA’s Young Player of the year in 2007.
A source close to the player confirmed: “City have already offered more than the £32m they paid for Robinho. “Madrid turned down £24m from Inter in the summer but the cash offer has gone higher and higher from City. “And just as they couldn’t hold on to Fernando Torres, Atletico know they can’t resist this sort of pressure.”
Aguero started his career at Independiente, becoming the youngest player to debut in the Argentine First Division at only 15 years and 35 days — breaking the record previously established by Diego Maradona.
waaa
crazy
Wah, this fellow has Diego Maradona as his father in law...
City lost to Bolton. 2-0
i think they need 1 or 2 strong centre backs, a good defensive mid, and need to sell some players, then their team quite complete..dont really need more strikeforce lor
robinho jo swp
The Spanish media were speculating at one point that as Maradona's son-in-law, Aguero's son will inherit excellant footballing genes. Arsene may be interested. haha...
