Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski says he is considering his future after being left on the bench again for the 3-1 win over Arminia Bielefeld in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Coach Jurgen Klinsmann decided to use Miroslav Klose as a lone frontman, which has been his favoured policy for most of the season.
Podolski’s patience appears to have snapped although he is a regular starter for Germany.
“It’s normal and legitimate to have thoughts of where things will go leading up to the winter break,” the striker said, who came on to score a penalty against Arminia Bielefeld.
“I was not surprised to be left on the bench, but certainly angry.”
Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness had recently stated that Poldoski’s position with the national team cannot be compared to that of his club as he referred to the ‘mediocre standard’ of the national side.
“I did not pick the team against Liechtenstein. Perhaps I should ask [coach] Joachim Low to play me against the top 20 countries in the world in the future,” retorted Podolski.
