Wanted: Diarra has attracted the attention of City boss Mark Hughes
Manchester City are set to use their financial muscle to keep Lassana Diarra out of Tottenham's reach.
Portsmouth midfielder Diarra was expected to join former boss Harry Redknapp at Spurs in January but City, bankrolled by the Abu Dhabi royal family, have tabled a £10million offer worth £85,000-a-week, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 23-year-old ex-Chelsea and Arsenal ace has been a revelation on the South Coast since swapping Arsenal for Fratton Park in January for £5.5m. But Pompey need to cut costs and Diarra is keen to quit after being unsettled by Redknapp's move to White Hart Lane.
