MARK'S SET GO? ... Hughes on the brink at City
City lost 2-1 at home to Spurs yesterday and SunSport can reveal the club’s mega-rich Arab owners are already talking about replacing the Welshman before the January transfer window.
They are also aware that star players like Robinho are unhappy. The £32.5m striker, Elano and Jo are said to dislike Hughes’ management style and would be happy to see him go.
Jose Mourinho has been tipped to replace Hughes but he would be unlikely to take the job now having only joined Inter Milan in the summer. Hughes met his board before the Spurs game to discuss transfer targets but the manager and his bosses have different plans.
While Hughes is looking to players like Blackburn’s Roque Santa Cruz, the Arabs would prefer bigger names. Hughes said: “The chairman was round my house last night to talk about where we want to take the club and it was all very positive.”
But a source close to the owners said last night: “Hughes has not got long. Even if he had beaten Spurs his job was in jeopardy — now losing has taken him to the edge.”
Executive chairman Garry Cook’s job is also on the line as the Arab owners were surprised to discover that he is on a salary of £1.5m a year, which is one of the highest for that position in the Premier League.
jose will not move
and hughes will be replaced
useless
hughes is not a bad manager but he cannot handle the expectations i think
hughes not a very good manager, on his performances on man city till now. he cant really deploy the whole squard well. sven did it better than him when he's still at the club.
jose to replace hughes? maybe, why not? lol
Jose won;t go? I dont know....but with so money allowed to spent, I believe he don't mind moving.
give hughes more time la
sort of 1/2 expected tis "rumour"
shd be quite interesting to see his return to England! :D

City’s billionaire Arab owners have made Mourinho their first choice to replace Mark Hughes. And SunSport can reveal that third parties have already taken soundings about the move and have received a positive response.
We reported yesterday how Hughes is on the brink of being sacked. But discussions within the City hierarchy about bringing in Mourinho began FIVE weeks ago.
The Portuguese coach has led Inter to the top of Serie A but he is unhappy with certain aspects of the Italian game. Mourinho regards media hostility towards him as disrespectful and has been shocked by the lack of passion from the fans. He has made no secret of his desire to manage again in the Premier League and recently said he would do so after his stint with Inter.
The termination agreement Mourinho signed on leaving Chelsea banned him from managing another club in England for a calendar year. But he received the final compensation instalment on September 21, leaving him free to return here.
However, it is highly unlikely Mourinho will consider leaving Inter until the end of the season. That means owners Abu Dhabi United Group must decide if they can afford to wait seven months to get their man.
Hughes received a flimsy vote of confidence from club chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak yesterday. In a statement the chairman claimed he had the ‘highest regard’ for Hughes but did not make any guarantee about his future.

which idiot won't accept
Wah... if its true, it will be 2 and a half times of Scolari's pay, Almost 3 and the half times of Alex and Wenger's... And maybe more than 4 times Rafa's pay...
So his one month pay is equivalent to Alex's, Wenger's and Scolari's all add up... Sweet...
Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho has rejected talk linking him with a return to the Premier League with mega-rich Manchester City.
The former Chelsea boss, now in charge of Serie A giants Inter Milan, was reported by a national newspaper to be in the frame to replace Mark Hughes at Eastlands.
With City now under the control of the Abu Dhabi United Group there had been suggestions that the former Blackburn boss' position could be under threat.
But chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak insisted on Monday that there were no plans to replace Hughes and that he would be given more money to spend in the January transfer window.
Mourinho enjoyed great success with Chelsea after moving to England from Porto, before parting company with the Stamford Bridge club in September last year.
He spent several months out of the game, being linked with a number of leading jobs, before eventually joining Inter in the summer following Roberto Mancini's departure.
And while the Portuguese tactician makes no secret of the impression left on him by the Premier League, he is focused solely on his role at the San Siro.
Mourinho told Sky Sports: "Everybody knows I love English football, but everybody also knows I am Inter Milan coach."
15M whoa... alot sia
he should join city.
it will make the challenge at the top more interesting.
