Arsene Wenger believes Carlos Vela is close to becoming a world-class striker.
The Mexican, 19, scored a hat-trick on his full debut for Arsenal in September as they beat Sheffield United 6-0 in the Carling Cup.
And while Wenger believes he still needs to become stronger as a player, he expects him to realise his potential.
“He is naturally gifted, quick, intelligent and with very good technique, so you now want him to add that combative, determined side that makes the difference,” he said.
“He'll quickly be a world-class striker when he adds that to his game.
“Some day, we all get our chance. The target is to take that chance when you get it, and he has the potential to do that.”
Vela is expected to start for Arsenal when they take on Wigan in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.
